From an idea by Simone Vallerotonda, "I Bassifondi" is born, an ensemble with which it proposes the music for Lute, Arciliuto, Tiorba and Chitarra with the basso continuo.

Most of the ‘600 and‘ 700 music for Lute, Guitar, Tiorba and Arciliuto, was imagined and written with the idea of being played along with other instruments. Authors such as Kapsberger, Corbetta, Piccinini, de Visée, Granata, Weiss and many others have written their music with the addition of the basso continuo part, or they have turned their tablature by solo instrument, into a multi-voice score, or have, in more explicit cases, directly written music for consort of lutes, or for lute and other instruments. There are numerous chronicles of the time that testify to us a way of playing this music "with more instruments". Often guitarists used to be accompanied by theorists, colascioni, lutes and vice versa. Based on written testimony and musical and iconographic sources, "I Bassifondi" is born, an ensemble founded by Simone Vallerotonda, whose goal is to rediscover and offer the public this music in a chamber version.
